Our Volunteer Promise
By joining Handel Hendrix House, you are joining a fabulous team of volunteers, whose passion and enthusiasm makes spending time in these historic residences an amazing experience every single day.
Before you begin however, there are a few things that need to be agreed between us. This is to ensure that you are happy, and everything is above board.
You can see a copy of the full Volunteer Agreement in the Volunteer Handbook; we will ask you to sign it on your first shift, after reading through everything but here is a cheat-sheet of the agreement.
We will…
- Give you training for your role.
- Provide you with support.
- Cover your expenses up to £12.
- Value you and your feedback
- Provide a safe working environment.
- Provide a working environment where you will be treated with dignity and respect, and not be subject to harassment or discrimination.
You will…
- Be committed and reliable – let us know if you can’t make it or circumstances change.
- Perform the role to the best of your skills and abilities.
- Follow our policies and procedures.
- Play a part in ensuring that Handel Hendrix House is a place where people are treated with dignity and respect, and not subject to harassment or discrimination. This includes fellow volunteers, employees of Handel Hendrix House and our visitors.
- Act in the best interests of Handel Hendrix House.
- Help us to preserve these historic properties.
We will both…
- Ensure everyone is valued and respected, whoever you are and whatever your background.
- Understand the voluntary nature of this arrangement.
- Maintain data protection and uphold confidentiality.
- Be able to end the volunteer relationship at any time.
