AIWC Volunteer Policy
Volunteers agree to:
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Follow all staff instruction, for their safety, the safety of those around them, and the wildlife in AIWC's care.
• Attend all orientation, interviews, and training sessions for the position.
• Follow position descriptions, safety, and cleaning instructions.
• Fulfill the minimum number of hours required by your role
• To the best of your ability, find a replacement for your shifts if you are unable to attend.
• Keep a record of volunteer hours and KM driven for AIWC purposes and submit them to the volunteer coordinator annually.
• Follow all policies stated by AIWC, including our vaccination policy for on-site volunteer positions.
• Attend a yearly review and complete a practical skills checklist annually.
• Fulfill a 6-month probationary period whereby your position can be terminated.
• Have a current COVID and Tetanus vaccination, and if working with rabies-vector species, provide proof of rabies vaccination and titre levels.
• Disciplinary action will occur after three warnings have been issued for breaking any rules, regulations, or policies whereby your position can be terminated.
Rescue Drivers agree to the above and:
• Have your own vehicle, license, registration and insurance.
