Thank you for your interest in joining on a City of Kitchener Local Board. The City has three local boards which operate arms-length to Council by providing direct programs and services to the community, including:

• The Centre In The Square Inc. is a not-for-profit arts corporation, which operates and maintains the city-owned venue known as the Centre In The Square (CITS) where both local and international artists perform.
• The Kitchener Public Library (KPL) board, which is established under provincial legislation, is responsible for the management and control of our local public libraries.

Please note, only the Kitchener Public Library is currently recruiting.

Selection Process

Independent Board Nominating Committee’s established by each Board assesses each application based on the diverse representation of the community, expertise/interest in an issue or topic area, and the sector specific skills and experience. The Boards then recommend their selected appointments to Council for consideration.

The Municipal Act, S. 11, authorizes the collection of personal information to process volunteer applications in the City of Kitchener. Personal information is collected in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other legislation. We will use this data to inform policy decisions, address systemic discrimination, and support more equitable access to and representation on Council advisory committees.
