Volunteer Policy
Thank you for your interest and willingness to volunteer with the Sound Wall Music Initiative (SWMI) and/or the Opelika Songwriters Festival (OSF). We rely on the hard work of wonderful volunteers like you to make our events and festivals possible. Volunteers work to support the fans, staff, sponsors and artists to ensure everyone at the event has an exciting, fun, memorable, and safe experience.
To get started as a volunteer, please sign up below for the MyImpact (Better Impact) scheduling software and install the MyImpact app on your phone/device. In the app, you'll provide contact information including a valid email address and cell phone number for future volunteer communications. Once your application is accepted, you'll receive an email with more detailed instructions on volunteering.
Our volunteers are the smiling faces who "go with the flow" in ever-changing environments and take on any assignment—no matter the size! Volunteer positions require physical activity including standing, walking, and possibly lifting during your shift, so please respect your limitations when selecting opportunities. You could be doing anything from helping set up the festival site to keeping a watchful eye on various entry points. Some volunteers help out with event merchandise and the box office, or simply put on a smile and greet everyone as they come and go throughout the event.
Festival volunteers who commit to, and work, a minimum of 10 hours receive a general admission wristband that allows them access to GA events throughout the festival weekend when not volunteering (subject to venue capacity, as with all pass-holders). Training and pre-shift check-in do not apply to your volunteer hours.
