Summer Volunteers at The Rooms Guidelines
Summer Volunteers can expect that The Rooms will:
- Provide adequate orientation, training and resources;
- Ensure you have access to Rooms support staff;
- Accept and respect your time constraints;
- Recognize the value of your contribution; and
- Provide a complimentary Household Rooms membership (valid for 1 year) after 30 hours of volunteering.
The Rooms expects that Summer Volunteers will:
- Submit to an RNC Criminal Records Screening. This will be completed by you at no cost to you when you include an official letter from The Rooms Volunteer Supervisor (RNC criminal records screenings must be received by The Rooms before a volunteer can start and can take up to few business days to be processed by RNC). We can provide that letter upon request;
- Learn the information necessary to deliver information, provide guidance and share your experiences with the visitor;
- Email the Volunteer Supervisor or Assistant Volunteer Supervisor when you are unable to attend a shift you have signed up for;
- Interact with visitors and staff in a positive manner; and
- Direct comments or concerns to the Volunteer Supervisor or Assistant Volunteer Supervisor.
