The age requirements for volunteering with HSCC are to be at least 10 years of age, if a minor is under the age of 16, they are required to be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times, both minor and guardian are required to attend orientation. A minor aged 16-17 may volunteer unsupervised with the written permission of a legal guardian. Any person 18 or over may volunteer independently and are able to complete a dog handling class. Any volunteer that meets these requirements and requires a Direct Support Professional MUST be accompanied at all times (one client per DSP).
You must complete our Volunteer Orientation.
If you are over 18 years of age and would like to handle our dogs you are required to complete a dog handling course yearly. The dog handling course is a separate training from the Volunteer Orientation.
