Mowana Safe Space Volunteer Policies
Mowana Safe Space is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all visitors, volunteers, and staff. As a volunteer, you agree to uphold the following principles and responsibilities:
-
Confidentiality
All information shared by visitors within the Safe Space is strictly confidential. Volunteers must not disclose personal details or discussions outside the service, except where required by law or safeguarding obligations. -
Respect and Non-Judgement
Volunteers will treat all individuals with dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of background, identity, or personal circumstances. Discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. -
Boundaries and Role Clarity
Volunteers understand that Mowana operates as a non-clinical, peer-based support service. Volunteers must not provide clinical advice, counselling, or professional mental health services unless formally qualified and authorised. Clear personal and professional boundaries must be maintained at all times. -
Safeguarding and Duty of Care
Volunteers must follow all safeguarding procedures, including escalation protocols where a person may be at risk of harm to themselves or others. Concerns must be reported promptly to the designated supervisor. -
Commitment and Reliability
Volunteers agree to honour agreed rosters, provide adequate notice if unable to attend, and participate in required training and supervision. -
Code of Conduct
Volunteers will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Mowana’s values and reputation, both within the Safe Space and when representing the organisation at community events. -
Privacy and Data Protection
Any records, documents, or organisational information accessed during volunteering must be handled securely and in accordance with privacy obligations.
By accepting these policies, volunteers acknowledge their understanding of these responsibilities and their commitment to upholding the standards of Mowana Safe Space.
