Position objective

The Horizon Festival Volunteer supports the on the ground delivery of Horizon Festival events across the Sunshine Coast. You will work closely with the Horizon Festival team to ensure a superior audience experience of the festival in both back of, and front of, house capacities; ticketing, greetings, install and de-install customer services etc.

Key responsibilities

The Horizon Festival Volunteer fulfils and important role by:

  • Support the Horizon Festival team in the delivery of festival programming  across the Sunshine Coast.
  • Assist the Horizon Festival team in front of house ticketing duties at performances
  • Invigilate art works and exhibitions installed as a part of the festival
  • Work with the Horizon Brand and Audience team to assist with promoting the festival to the wider Sunshine Coast community.

The Horizon Festival Volunteer should possess the following attributes:

  • Reliable and enthusiastic
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Neat and well presented
  • Communicate well with a willingness to listen and learn
  • Attention to detail, have patience and physical dexterity
  • An ability to work within Workplace Health & Safety requirements
  • An ability and willingness to work constructively with other volunteers and employees to nurture a positive attitude and work environment

The Horizon Festival Volunteer is to have a general commitment to attending relevant training opportunities.

Volunteer hours

Hours of work are based on a roster system covering seven days and evenings. The roster is based on Horizon Festival event scheduling.

Reporting arrangements

The Horizon Festival Volunteer reports to the Senior Creative Program Officer (Horizon Festival).

Workplace Health and Safety

Volunteers must commit to ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with Council’s workplace, health and safety policies and procedures.
